Massage Cupping
Massage Cupping is an ancient art developed over time with the purpose of draining toxins. Cupping is also known as decompression massage therapy. It utilizes suction and negative pressure to drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue and bring blood flow to the skin and muscles. Massage Cupping is used by acupuncturists to treat a variety of conditions and may be used during your acupuncture treatment depending on your condition and treatment plan. Patients may also schedule 30 minutes sessions of just Massage Cupping if there is a body area that needs focus. Areas commonly treated are back, shoulders, neck and legs. Massage Cupping is extremely relaxing and patients feel a difference after one session. There is always the risk of bruising whenever cupping is done and the bruising can last up to 7 days.
At Fine Balance Acupuncture, the original art, utilizing glass cups and a flame, is the technique used to increase blood flow, remove tissue toxins and allow fresh blood to feed, nourish and heal affected areas of the body.
Massage Cupping is used in Cellulite Treatments to break down the fatty globules, release toxins stored in fatty tissue and eliminate the lumps associated with cellulite. There can be some bruising to the treated area anytime cupping is used. The bruises can last up to 7 days so it is recommended that treatments are completed at least 2 weeks before a special event. As the cellulite sessions progress, the strength of the treatment will be increased as the tissues soften. Patients see results after approximately 4-5 treatments and it is recommended that 2-3 treatments are scheduled per week. It is recommended that patients increase their water intake after cupping sessions to help flush out toxins.
